Get active on holiday

Idling beside the pool or on the beach is not everybody’s idea of a restful holiday. Fortunately Menorca offers no end of sporting activities and pastimes with which to while away the hours.

Watersports of all varieties are perhaps not surprisingly very much to the fore, and it is possible to hire small dinghies and ribs, windsurf boards, kayaks and paddle boards, and to take lessons in each discipline. If you want to ply your craft in Mahon harbour, be aware that you’ll need a skipper qualifications.

Menorca has but one golf course, at Son Parc (see below) and it’s a challenging 18-holer that is a firm favourite with visitors and locals.

Watersports of all varieties are to the fore

There are bicycle and mountain-bike rental companies around the island, opportunities to go bird watching (especially in the S’Albufera nature reserve near Mahon), you can play bowls, watch cricket, get on horseback, watch (and bet on) trotting races, learn to dive… In short, there’s pretty much everything that a busy holidaymaker could possible want…
